I met up with Alex and Nick at The Guelph Arboretum for their engagement photo session. Honestly, the arboretum is the perfect place for photos in Guelph. You really cannot lose! These two arrived in style with classy and complimentary outfits, perfect for poppin’ off a bottle of champagne. The clouds were looking a little grim in the first 5 minutes of our shoot, but luckily the sun made a welcome appearance. Just look at that water sparkling in the fountain!
We were lucky to still have the lilacs (are they lilacs?) in bloom, and took full advantage. They made for a very dreamy and beautiful vibe.We did a quick parking lot outfit change and headed over to the ol’ knoll for some slightly more casual photos. Blue jeans and white shirts are a winning combo!
I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in just a few more weeks!
I had the pleasure of creating a wedding film for Caitline and James this past May. They had a gorgeous, heartfelt ceremony at The Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph, Ontario. We started the day with our first look and portraits at The Guelph Arboretum, which is THE spot in Guelph (if you ask me!)
I typically edit a longer more documentary style wedding video for my clients, and then create something a little more bite sized to share online, like the video here. My wedding films are inspired by documentary film makers, specifically Les Blank. For me, it’s entirely about capturing the truth of the day. I love a long scene of a couple just chatting and interlocking fingers after they’ve just seen each other for the first time. The fast cuts to low fi hip hop is most likely not going to happen here! Of course, that works for a lot of couples and film makers, but I am usually taking a slower approach. It’s like listening to someone speak, and really considering their words before you respond. My goal as a wedding film maker is to make you feel like I was really listening.
Matt and Dylan are two handsome and stylish boys who also happen to be a couple of pals of mine, so it was extra special to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding at The Drake Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. Their morning began in the rooftop suite at The Drake Hotel which provided us with some beautiful natural light to work with. We did a little roam around the building for some more photos before their ceremony on the Sky Yard. Their reception was held in the main lounge where guests were treated to some heartfelt speeches and just a touch of drag. Photographing your friends getting married is always such an honour and I’ve been lucky to get to do it a few times!
